To all the moms out there

OK. Does your child not like to get his or her hands dirty, or am I the only lucky mom out there? So today Ashleigh comes to me with something on her finger while I’m feeding her sister her baby food. Naturally I thought it was just something she found on the floor as toddlers tend to do since they’re closer to it. You know, like a cracker crumb from last week or a dead bug or a string or whatever. You get the idea. But no, it was none of those things. Upon closer inspection by sight and smell, I discovered that it was the processed by-product of her breakfast, lunch and/or dinner coming from her hind region due to insufficient containment from the ridiculously expensive paper product wrapped around her little gluteus maximus. Yep, that’s right. She had poo poo on her finger from a leaky diaper. Yuck! My life is so glamorous, but Luke was right when he said I wouldn’t have it any other way. (Sorry, no pictures.)

Growing, growing, growing

The babies that is. I think someone has been slipping Miracle Gro in the babies’ formula or baby food. Last month at the twins’ 4 month check up, Riley weighed 19 lbs 4 oz, measured 27 1/4 in, and Kyleigh weighed 14 lbs 14 oz, measured 26 1/4 in. They just turned 5 months old this past Wednesday so who knows how much they weigh now. We will go in March for their 6 month check up, and I’ll let you know.

We went a couple of weeks ago for Ashleigh’s 18 month check up, and she weighed 26 lbs 12 oz, measured 33 in. She doesn’t have to go back until she’s 2, and I know she is very excited about that. She kept telling the nurses and Dr. Scotty “bye, bye” in hopes that they would leave and not come back. She did great though.

It’s been a while since I sent any pictures so here is a slide show of pictures from the last couple of months. Yes, there are pictures from Christmas. I’ve been a little busy. Hope you enjoy!

WARNING!!

If you ever come to visit us at our house, do not, I repeat, DO NOT park in our driveway. Your vehicle could end up like this…..

Van Damage

That’s right. Thursday afternoon, as I was hurriedly leaving to go to the grocery store to buy the food for Luke’s birthday dinner, I backed right into my babysitter’s Volvo! Her car only had a broken taillight cover and a cut in the bumper, but you see what happened to my van. Just $3700 worth of damage including a completely shattered back windshield and huge dent in the back door. Praise the Lord that none of the babies were with me. Although if they had, I guess I would not have had a babysitter. :) Oh well.

On the bright side, there are definitely benefits to living in a small town. Within minutes, our insurance agent was at our house. Thanks, Bob! Within an hour, we had a loaner vehicle in our garage from Killens Chevrolet. Thanks, Mark! Within two hours, the body shop repair guy came to our house to do an estimate. Thanks, Wayne! And my babysitter stayed while Luke and I cleaned up her car, our car, the driveway and went to get the loaner vehicle. Thanks, Karen! We are taking the van in Monday and should have it back within a week or so. Thanks, Newton!

Happy Birthday, Luke!

Well, yesterday was Luke’s 37th birthday. What?! 37?! That’s not possible because we’re less than two years apart, and I’m still only 29. Haha.

So because it was Luke’s birthday, he got to choose what he wanted for dinner. He asked for my lasagna first, but I asked him if there was something else for a change. (He always requests my lasagna for any special occasion.) Then he looked on the Food Network site and found a recipe for Chicken Parmesan by Giada de Laurentis and for dessert, Peanut Butter Cups in the Blanket by Paula Deen. Everything turned out nice, but the dessert was a lot more work than I had first thought. Probably won’t try that one again.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed your day, Babe. Looking forward to many more with you!

So…..

….here I am, finally blogging. It’s only 2008. After reading so many cute and clever blogs, I decided to give it a try. I’m not making any promises though. I decided to name the blog ‘plans4u’ because Jeremiah 29:11 has been my life verse for many years. Although life with three kids under the age of two proves to be always busy, I’ll try to keep it as updated as possible. For instance, right now Ashleigh has put all three kids’ Bibles in my lap saying, “Ree, ree, ree” which in 18 month old language means “read.” So I better run so I can “ree” to her.

Looking forward to blogging with you!!! Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day, too!!
